In an effort to improve local infrastructure and community services throughout its local government area, Georges River Council was allocating additional funding to a number of community-orientated projects and initiatives, which included the design and construction of the Hurstville Golf Course Facilities Upgrade.
Webber Architects was engaged for the design of the upgraded clubhouse to be a multipurpose facility with improved accessibility; improved work, health and safety; sustainability; and visual amenity sympathetic to the natural environment. Built by Project Coordination, it incorporates office space, a pro shop, a kitchenette and bar area, indoor and outdoor function space, a viewing platform, accessible bathroom amenities, locker storage, and cart storage.
All existing structures were demolished to make way for the new facility which will cater for both the Golf Club and Pro Shop on the ground floor with ample space for golf cart storage and charging and will also include a new putting green and driving bays.
The club will also be used as a multi-use community space upstairs incorporating offices for the club and viewing platform to watch over the course. In addition, the design incorporates member and public amenities, and a kitchen and bar with dining area.
